This qualification covers complex accounting and finance topics and tasks leading to students becoming confident with a wide range of financial management skills and applications. Students will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports.
The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting qualification will suit those who:
Completed the AAT Diploma in Accounting (Level 3) or equivalent, or have significant experience working in the finance sector. Alternatively, if you are employed in the accounting sector, you may wish to consider the Level 4 Professional Accounting or Taxation Technician Apprenticeship.
In completing the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4 you will cover higher accounting tasks including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance, as well as optional specialist units including business tax, personal tax, external auditing and credit management and cash and treasury management.
If you successfully complete this qualification and fulfil AAT’s work experience requirements, you can apply for AAT full membership and achieve professional AAT Accountant status (MAAT).
Syllabus
Optional units – you will be required to select two of the following:
Classroom attendance is weekly for your 3-hour lessons for your mandatory modules (3) and up to 6 hours for your optional modules (2).
Pre-lesson study: For the mandatory modules, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study.
Lessons last for around 45 minutes and are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further. Learners should expect to spend around 3–4 hours studying independently online each week.
For the optional modules, materials are provided by tutors for your pre-lesson reading and homework.
On Campus: You benefit from weekly 3-hour classes with a college tutor (for optional modules, the weekly hours may increase or decrease). Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates helps reinforce key points while providing additional support and motivation through group learning.
This course is assessed through a total of five computer-based exams, one taken at the end of each unit.
